Thursday 7th

63 years ago last wednesday and this saturday the US dropped atomic weapons on the nation of japan. I spent the evening watching a special in Japanese about the bombs and the aftermath. So in one year I was in Japan 65 years when the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor and when the A-bombs were dropped. It is strange to think about after all these years and where we are as nations now.

I am pretty sure we will get more protests this weekend.

But in other news the Olympics start tomorrow. It is strange being outside your country when the games begin. Tonight they were showing a prelim match between the US and Japan in the lobby. The US won 1-0, but it was close. It will be interesting to see how people reach around here.

Have you ever watched "Grave of the Fireflies"? It's an anime set at the end of WWII, following a boy and his little sister. Anyhoo...THE OLYMPICS! Woo-hoo. We are so excited, Max wants to watch Judo, but I'm having a hard time finding TV listings for it.
